Welcome to Little Moon Cottage & Sunbeam Cottage
When we first came to the Island we fell in love with the West Wight and we were so pleased to find a home in such a beautiful location. That was more than fifteen years ago and we still find the views breathtaking.
Set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and surrounded by rolling countryside, Little Moon Cottage and Sunbeam Cottage nestle on a leafy lane with woodland to the front and rear gardens that stretch out towards the wooded slopes of Tennyson Down. The cottages are cosy with comfortable living rooms, bright dining areas and quiet bedrooms.
The area is perfect for walking: an afternoon stroll along West High Down to the Needles; longer walks such as the Tennyson Trail with it's breathtaking scenery and the beautiful Coastal Path; or a short evening walk to the Tennyson Monument. At the end of the day watch the sun go down, then treat yourself to a good meal at the pub just five minutes from the cottage.
In the gardens on a fresh spring morning you can hear the breeze gently rustling the trees on the slopes of Tennyson Down and everything sparkles with dew. Red squirrels use the telephone wires as a tightrope and you'll see the green flash of a woodpecker or blue of a jay as the birds begin to build their nests.
The gardens come alive at dusk. If you sit very quietly you may see a badger grubbing about in the soil for worms, a fox slinking by or an owl swooping over the field. You can hear the crashing of the surf in Freshwater Bay or the mournful clanging of the buoy at Fort Victoria as the tide rushes in. When the night is clear, thousands of stars twinkle overhead and if you're lucky you might see a shooting star.
Dogs are warmly welcomed - the gardens are safe for them and fenced to a height of one metre. This is the perfect environment for dogs with so many beautiful walks on the doorstep and the pub is dog friendly too!
There are many unspoilt beaches nearby and the cottages provide a convenient base for visiting Island attractions such as Alum Bay, Blackgang Chine, the Steam Railway and Ventnor Botanic Garden; or historic buildings such as Osborne House or Carisbrooke Castle.
You can find out more about the cottages, more about us and more about the Island on our other pages. You can also check availability and book and pay online, or you can contact us by phone or email for more information.
We love the Island - especially this peaceful, rural corner and we're sure you'll love it too. We very much hope to welcome you to our cottages.
